Sub-Meter Terms and Conditions
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. By purchasing a Pioneer Metering prepaid sub-meter you become the “Meter Owner” and by registering a prepaid sub-meter with Pioneer Metering you represent that you are or that you act (duly authorized thereto) on behalf of the Meter Owner and you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these terms and conditions.
1.2. Pioneer Metering’s full terms and conditions are subject to change without notice and the updated version of our full terms and conditions are available on request via email or WhatsApp (see contact details on the front page of the registration form or on the reverse side of the product packaging).
1.3. Pioneer Metering is a vendor of prepaid electricity sub-meters and a provider of prepaid metering services. Pioneer Metering is not a provider of electricity or an agent for electricity providers or similar services. Pioneer Metering supplies, installs and uninstalls prepaid sub-meters. Pioneer Metering does not manufacture prepaid sub-meters.
1.4. You can register your Pioneer Metering prepaid sub-meter online at www.pioneermetering.co.za by completing the Pioneer Metering registration form and forwarding the completed form to Pioneer Metering via email or WhatsApp with the following documents:
- 1.4.1. Certified copies of valid Identity Documents of every signatory to the registration form;
- 1.4.2. A bank confirmation letter for the Meter Owner’s nominated bank account;
- 1.4.3. A utility bill for that property not older than 3 months (Proof of Address);
- 1.4.4. A photograph of the sub-meter installed at the premise as per the registered municipal address.
1.5. You are responsible for ensuring that all information provided to Pioneer Metering on the registration form (or otherwise) is true, correct and legible in all respects. Pioneer Metering assumes that all information furnished on the registration form (or otherwise) is correct and assumes no liability whatsoever as a result of incorrect or incomplete information provided.
1.6. It is the Meter Owner’s responsibility to immediately inform Pioneer Metering of any change of ownership to the property or the prepaid sub-meter.
1.7. All fees referred to in these terms and conditions and those provided to you on request, are exclusive of VAT and are subject to change without notice.
2. EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY
2.1. You as the Meter Owner assume all liability, and hold harmless and indemnify Pioneer Metering against any liability whatsoever and howsoever arising, including, but not limited to, any claims by tenant(s), any tampering with or circumvention of your meter or prepaid sub-meter, claims from electricity providers as a result of any tampering with or circumvention of your meter or prepaid sub-meter, non-supply or interruption of electricity, leaks, power surges or any other detrimental activity, the implementation of annual tariff changes, and any loss, damages, costs, penalties, fines and expenses that arise therefrom, whether direct, indirect or contingent.
2.2. The consumer is responsible for maintaining sufficient credit on the prepaid meter to cover their electricity consumption and any/all applicable fees.
2.3. In cases of insufficient credit, the meter will disconnect the electricity supply until credit is reloaded on the meter.
3. VENDING OPTIONS, FEES AND TARIFFS
3.1. A total percentage of 27.21% will be deducted from the settlement to the landlord/owner. This amount comprises of point of sale fees, meter management fees and service fees and VAT. This amount is subject to change without notice. Pioneer Metering can be contacted for a breakdown of costs or variations of said amount at any time.
3.2. Bank transaction fees will be deducted from the settlement paid to the landlord/Owner.
3.3. The Tariff set on the meter is based on the retail tariff of electricity which is in relation to a residential tariff and includes all associated fees. (Subject to annual price increases)
4. INSTALLATION
4.1. Pioneer Metering prepaid sub-meters are not intended to replace any meter that has been installed by the relevant electricity provider.
4.2. The installation and uninstallation of the Pioneer Metering prepaid sub-meter must be attended to by a registered electrician. It is the Meter Owner’s responsibility to appoint a registered electrician to install prepaid sub-meters and Pioneer Metering shall be held harmless against any damages incurred due to the installation or uninstallation of a Pioneer Metering prepaid sub-meter.
5. WARRANTY AND REPAIR
5.1. No warranty will be issued on the prepaid electricity sub-meter by Pioneer Metering.
6. PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
6.1. We take the protection of your personal information and privacy seriously. We will only collect, use, store, and disclose your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
6.2. You acknowledge and agree to the terms of our Privacy Notice, which is incorporated into and forms part of these terms and conditions.
6.3. Our Privacy Notice sets out how we collect, use, store, and disclose your personal information, including but not limited to:
- 6.3.1. Your name, address, and contact information;
- 6.3.2. Your sub-meter details and usage data; and
- 6.3.3. Your transaction history with us.
We may use your personal information to provide you with the services you have requested, including issuing tokens to your sub-meter and processing payments. We may also use your personal information for our legitimate business purposes, such as improving our services, preventing fraud, and complying with legal obligations.
Pioneer Metering treats all personal information received from the Meter Owner and any other party as strictly confidential. Pioneer Metering will take appropriate, reasonable technical and generational measures to safeguard the personal information in its possession or under its control against loss, damage, or unauthorized access.
Pioneer Metering may, in limited circumstances, make available the Meter Owner’s personal information to any third party strictly to carry out its obligations to the Meter Owner (for example, to process payments), or where otherwise required by law. In the event that Pioneer Metering is required to make such personal information available to any third party, Pioneer Metering will ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect the personal information and comply with applicable legal requirements.
7. CHANGING OF SERVICE PROVIDER
7.1. Any meter listed with Pioneer Metering is not transferable to any other Service Provider.
7.2. Pioneer Metering is entitled to request, that should a meter be uninstalled, it should be returned to Pioneer Metering upon request.
7.3. All Payments due will only be concluded upon receipt of the uninstalled meter.
8. GENERAL
8.1. Pioneer Metering will not be bound by any representation not recorded in these terms and conditions, which are the sole record of Pioneer Metering’s services offered to you as the Meter Owner.
